What do you add to your mix ??? over the years I have heard many an old tapers tale including:-

Add salt to filler to make it go off quicker

Add hot water for the same affect

Add a handfull of Joint cement to bonding its cheaper than filler

Add fairy liquid to BG cement to make it easier to sand

and so on

Do you use anuy of these and are there any more

Use salt to make gear go off in a little house. Also heard sugar keeps it on but don't know if that's true.

heard of all of these but never tried any of them!
If your using salt/fast set, how much salt do u use? E.g. if you have a 10litre bucket mixed up?

Yeah heard it sands really easy, but another member says it can leave 'fish eyes' in the cement, any experience of that????

Dont know what he means by fish eyes so I guess the answer is no, I sanded some that was applied o friday and it was a lot easier than normal BG cement. Definatley worth a squirt to coin a phrase.

Fish eyes is generally air bubbles in the cement

:Before used fairy liquid with BG joint cement, but most of the times left me with bubbles on final coat. Now using BG quicksand. Sands down easy, same as with liquid...

Had this "fish eyes" thing using lafarge or bg when the top coat has gone on filler that hasn't dried enough.Depends how thick you put the filler on i think.Using just one coat of cement, the filler has to be spot on,making up for 2 coats and can take longer to go off properly, holding moisture which comes out when the last coat is applied.
