I used quicksand for years and always thought it was the best product on the market but the prices just kept going up and up so for the last couple of years ive used wondertex which was banned by the contractor then ive more recently been using gtec trade.

Now gtec trade is not the greatest but its cheap at just over 10 a bag and sands easy. But the supplier i use is not stocking it any more as no one is buying it. So on my last order i had the choice of rapid sand which i think is rubbish or quicksand so i went for quicksand at 14.80! a bag. But they must of done something to it because it is anything but quicksand it hardens off like concrete!

Anyone else noticed its alot harder to sand than it used to be, i used to sand by hand with no problem but my electric sander was struggling like mad with 120grit.

we have had some success converting Tapers on to our All Purpose Lite Joint Cement and ReadyMix products from Quicksand and Wondertex.

Let me know if you fancy trying some and we can get some to you

We have allways used BG products & just priced them into the job, I love quick sand.

But after a chance encounter with the wondertex rep Managed to get a very decent joint cement
@ 12.10 for a 25kg sack. Filler @ 5.10.

I used it for the first time today & was very impressed, but won't really know untill itis all sanded & painted.

Is that the ultralight? If so its very easy to sand. I was always concerned about putting internals on with it aas it just didnt seem to be very sticky the internals could easily be pulled off when dry.

Wondertex joint cement is waaaay too soft for my liking, need a worn out 200grit sanding disk on the machine so to not take too much off when sanding!

I had a chat with Acorn and they also wanted to know where you can get the quicksand for 14.80 per bag as they said there is no way they would sell it for that price:confused:

Hhhhmmm? Thats strange.I can assure you i do. I dont even buy a large amount maybe 25 a month so if your buying the same sort of quantities i cant see why they would say that.

When I soke with the guy he said they do a lot of business with P&E Board so at a guess I would say your getting subsidised prices.
