While your new plasterwork is drying out, efflorescence will probably form on the surface. Efflorescence is a white or yellowish furry crystalline deposits that are natural salts coming out from the walls or ceiling during the drying process. This is no big deal and you should wipe this off with a dry brush occasionally until it ceases to re-appear.
Once the plaster has dried out completely, you can then begin your decoration.
