Does anybody use an outside corner appicator for bedding on angles? If so are the corner rollers any good, or should i just stick to bedding, wiping out by hand?

Yes mate. I use the No-Coat bead and USG tape on beads and the extra wide external corner roller. Gets the Bead dead flat to the plasterboard. I've got the hopper for mud application to the bead but haven't used it yet. The extra width of the tape/beads i'm using will compensate for bad boarding too.

Often wondered this as I still do it the old fashioned way. Ive subscribed to this thread and will keep an eye on everyones opinions.
I have sold an awful lot of them over the past 5 years, with no complaints, so that says to me they work well. You have to be aware of what bead you are using though, some are sopecifically suited for the usg style beads and don't work so well on the standard flex beads.
I used the rollers on the knauf plastic bead quite liked it but still do it the old way, looking at the usg system that Tony mentioned looks like it will save a bit of time.
Used the hopper for the first time yesterday and am quite impressed. Was using it with USG B1W tape on bead. It went through a treat. Material cost is probably twice that of cheap flex tape but it's a quicker process and far superior end result. The B1W has a waxy coating to it, so it won't fuzz up when sanding.
Are there any that work with standard flex tape or do you have to invest in the USG beads , which with the prices i,m being offered aren't viable.Originally Posted by DMS

i have a outside corner roller dont use it though dont think there up to much as compound goes all over place defo is quicker at bedding tape in but still had to use fingers to get excess out a lot off messing around i think personnaly i stick to doing it by hand for now.

i use the straightflex mud pro hopper with the usg beads and ive gotta say i'd never go back to doing it by hand with crappy gyproc corner tape or stapling metal bead on this is far quicker and a far better finish, gyproc stuff is good for certain things but when you've got a few hundres metres of bead to get on the usg stuff wins hands down, in my opinion.
the other plus side, i've only washed the hopper out once in just over two years and that was just a blast with a hose!! keeps your mud nice!!!
I've been putting the USG beads and No-Coat on with Easifill, so I have no option but to wash it out each time. Only takes a couple of minutes with a hose though.
hey maaaaan, do u ever use the stop bead that goes against the window frame. I use them in rendering and then a slightly different one for internal plastering.
On drywall i use the plasterboard edge bead or a drywall stop but the usg one looks better
yes, but not always, if I've only got a couple of corners to do, I'll do them by hand
Use a BTE 18" tube with external applicator, and Easi fill, this is the only time I use the tube.
I've not tried the USG one yet, but if it's anything like their B1W external corner bead, it'll be a good product.
we use alot of the usg 'L' shaped trim for skirtin details and also on the upstands of ceiling rafts that they put in some shops. All of the usg bead is good stuff and goes on so quickly and easily, once its set to the wall it can take a good knock aswell without denting or coming away from the wall unlike the old metal bead
