fix plasterboard and tape how much ? metal stud walls too

hi guys ,
i have been asked to quote for a job labour only to fix the plasterboard and tape the joints, he also wants me to do the internal walls in metal, the job is in france and i know the french rates as i used to live there but i want to price it on the uk rates not the current ones but the rates that would have applied when things were normal i am not after a greedy rate just a fair one that would have applied say two years ago.

Do you have anymore details on the spec of the job you need to price, eg type of metal you are fixing (standard, jumbo, gyplyner etc) and type of board you are fixing.

Two coat or three coat joint finish - topcoat needed or not?

if memory serves all the metal work is 50mm and normally 2.4 or 3m long. i have done loads of it in france but my problem is this, in france the average day rate is between 200 and 300 euro and as the euro is on a par with the £ it is not a lot less in £s when you convert it but i have sold myself to the client by convincing him that by using a uk artisan the job will be a lot cheaper and even taking into account expenses this will still be true. now when it comes to charging by the m2 i worked with a guy in france who charged 60 euro a m2 to supply and fix metal or timber stud walls 13mm plasterboard and skim finish. the price for a 3m length of metal stud at that time was just under 3 euro the rail was very near to that price also plasterboard was about 6 euro and a bag of taping compound about 12 euro and skimming 12 euro a bag so the price in france for this work is horrendous but before you all start packing your bags and hjeading south remember 60% of your earnings in france would go on social charges. so to clarify in good times what is the labour only rate to fix 13mm plasterboard and tape it , and what would be the m2 rate to fix metal stud partitions

boarding £2.50 X 2 £5.00

Insulation £1.00

Tape & joint labour only £3.00

£16.00 per Sq M

Door openings @ £10.00

Patrices @ £3.00

Cut outs @ £1.00


These are rates that I pay not what I charge, most fixers & jointers seem to be able to make a living from them

I allso carry outwork for about 3 months of the year in France in the Charante

I would say they are good rates in today's climate.
