The percentage varies from tool type to tool type. The HMRC website has all the info you need.
when I was looking at importing a tape applicator by Apla-Tech, the excise wanted 3-4% plus the vat on the total amount.

I've bought a few tools from the States . I paid online for the tool and postage then I recieved a letter from Parcelforce, or similar, saying I had to phone them and pay a fee so they could deliver it. It worked out about 15-20% of the tool price so it was probably VAT. Still cheaper than buying in the UK though so go for it!

Yes they do seem to have a wider choice of taping tools in the US. Over here its generally TapeTech/Speedtape Pro but I' see a lot of US sites selling Goldblatt/ Drywall Master/Blueline etc. Goldblatt seems a good enough make, and the spares will be interchangeable with Tapetech etc so you'll have no prob there

Just as a general rule you will pay around 25% import duty and vat on top of the price quoted this shouldnt include delivery cost in the eqiuation but many small usa firms fail to provide correct waybill information to shipper (usually ups) so be warned you may get hammered for more - that said - if sender fills in paper work incorrectly you could end up paying nothing ! Its the gamble you take importing privatly.

Just a quick query as we deal with goldblatt, was unaware that they refurb tools?

Do you need 2 x pumps if you are buying just boxes? you could save you a few quid not buying both pumps and only 2 x boxes (10 & 12) cheapest flatbox kit we sell is 550 + vat same goldblatt kit you are looking at less one box and a pump

    Good luck

    Ta

ops forgot - not all goldblatt is compatible with tapetech - about 60 % as opsed to the other uk stocked brands that are 90% between them compatible - good news with goldblatt is spares are amazingly cheap and we keep them so happy days!

yeah see your talking a totall of 400 - 500 for that and 300 - 400 for a box set

where as marcus is 559 + 20% 111.80 = 670.80 + 35 delivery totall 705.80 it all adds up thats why i was looking to get the stuff imported?
