    Default North South Divide

Do you think there is a big gap between rates for taping in the North compared to rates in the South.

I think it all depends on the type of work you do. If it's house bashing, the rates are crap everywhere. Commercial rates are generally better though.

Learned to tape in the early 90's but started off in 83 painting and decorating. I seem to be getting asked for more decorating of late as most of my customers know I used to paint, and they keep getting let down by trades.

I started painting in 1980 and build up to running my own company. I still run my own firm with guys subbying for me. We keep on following bad tapers and have been asked to do taping on small jobs and have made excellent job of it. So I am considering starting a taping side and starting to push for work. I'm down on the south coast, what do you think.

    Hello first choice.
If you're in the position to go for it. Give it ago.
    Everyone on here is helpful.
If you land some bigger jobs you maybe able to push some work in the direction of some of the members on here.

you may as well price for it a lot of contractors like the idea of painters and tapers working for the same firm it cuts out a lot of arguing that they dont want to get involved with, there is still arguing lol but in house, and as goodmanatee said if you get stuck there are bound to be a few members in your area you can call on.

Hi Goodmantee, I am seriously looking at it and the one thing I am good at is getting the work and usually reasonable size contracts.
    Thanks for your post
