Default Do you charge extra for taping wall to ceiling corners

hi guys just need to know if you charge extra for ceiling to wall corners if no coving is going up, and what sort of figure per meter for doing it.

doing a job that they have now decied is not being coved and need to make sure we are giving them a price which will cover the extra time

Is this something you have to go back and do?
If your in there taping, it's just part of meterage, presuming that your taping the ceiling as well.

If theres coving going up, its a bonus in your favour.
If your charging, say, 2.50m2 and they're putting coving up, you have less taping for the same m2 price. ie 70m2 in a room is still 70m2 with coving, but your not doing the top internal
If they're not putting coving up, you have already priced for it anyway

What Brian said. I hate doing top internals. Actually, at the moment, I hate taping.

Agree with these guys it's swings and roundabouts if it's coves it's a bonus and a few times even if it's coves some firms have still wanted it taped for smoke very annoying

I just wish there was a quicker way to do a top job. The proper taping process is too long drawn out compared to skimming. I tend to get awkward, high, silly shaped jobs to tape that people don't want to skim for those reasons. The sort of jobs that take 3 days just to first coat, internal and bead up. It makes you look like you are taking the piss.

I've lost a lot of taping work to skimmers recently because of the big show 4 of them can make on a job in a day compared to 1 of me.

As for the topic, I agree with the others. It's a bonus if there's coving, unless some twat wants it taped as well because they hate the thought of there being a gap behind the coving.....

Got to agree with the others. Looks like you'll have to take this one on the chin mate! When pricing per m2 you are including the top angle so if it gets coved its a bonus cos you're charging extra linear metres for that. You may be able to wrangle extra if its a job you have to go back and do but dont hold your breath

All sorted it was something we had to go back on after doing the Walls and ceilings, then after they decided it need taping in the corners even though they said not to worry about it as special accoustic sealer was going in to the joints which had not been done yet. After that was done all of a sudden they said we had not done the corners and we needed to do it.

Right nightmare as all had been sanded and nothing wanted to stick! Had to stabilise it all.

Anyways had a bit of bother about getting paid extra but all sorted.

Tony in reply to another thread the triangle head on the Flex 700 works very well once u get the hang of it. I'll do a video of it if you want?
