Default 507 sq m external decoration 2 floors charge 3.19 inc paint per sq m - is this fair?

507 sq m external decoration 2 floors charge 3.19 per sq m - is this fair? Cheap or expension - this is sub contractor price, my main contractor is then adding 10% + vat

This includes paint - scaffolding etc already in place - is this fair?

Somebody is buying their work. I feel sorry for their employees/subbies.

Yip, its fair for YOU. Not fair for the hard working lads who will be grafting at your house and probably being treated with contempt too

i presume we are talking about masonry painting rather than metal cladding, standard rates for this is about 5.00 - 6pm2 for a mist +two coats of masonry coating including materials, if he is using a decent masonry paint that will cost him about 1.50pm2 (if not more) if it hasnt been painted before, so that leaves him 1.69pm2 then he has to put two decent coats on which will take him a while maybe one guy could do 100m2 per day per coat, so he will probably be on site for 10 days. so he will make around 85 per day, so its not what i would call a decent wage. and exterior painting can be hard work if its rendered, lots of elbow grease required. if he was getting the proper rate he would be on a decent wage, so basically i wouldnt do it for 3.19. not having seen the job he may need a labourer with him for a couple of days aswell, so there is not much room for manouvre.
