    Default fire taping

Hi all, great forum you got going here by the way.

What do you generally all do when asked to fire tape?

-bedding and paper tape and smooth out
    -scrim mesh and one coat
-bedding and paper tape and smooth out, plus additional coat over the paper
-adhesive fire tape(the tape that needs no jointing compound)
    -other

do you fill nail holes or leave them?

Some sites want a 10 box and nails coated again with sanding. Firetape to me though has just been tapes on and coated with the nail spots.

Hi Tom, welcome to the forum
Personally, mesh tape and fast set (joint filler) and I always spot the screws too, cos clerk of works, agents etc can be picky that way

Finally tape and a coat of fast set is the way I have always done it, taking in screw holes as well

    Welcome to the forum Tom

I use (when I fire tape) paper and JC and a thin coat, spot the screws
May be wrong ( nothing unusual) but thought that was the regs for fire taping

In most large buildings you must fire tape above the drop ceiling electrical rooms all around every pipe, around elevator shafts, restrooms above drop ceiling &mechanical rooms from the bottom to the top around every pipe & Last but Not Least Up AllThe way to the Deck .

Hmmm, but how would they know?
I mean, BG Joint Filler dries white but if you coated an area out with some Knauf readymix or Lafarge smartmix, then really, how would they know?
