    Default Filling fibreboard - Norway

    Hi,

    Looking for some advice here.

I have a friend who moved out to Norway a few years ago, he has just built his house. He has asked me to come over and do the taping and filling. He tells me that in Norway they use fibreboard and not plasterboard. I've taped and filled for 15yrs here in Shetland, only ever done plasterboard.

Has anyone taped and filled fibreboard?
Whats the difference between that and plasterboard?
    Does fibreboard have bevelled edges?
He tells me for fire regualtions all joints have to be covered with paper tape and not mesh tape.

I know people in the trade have different ways in how they do things but just for additional info I do the following.

    Mesh tape seams.
Cut internal paper tapes and bed them in with Gyproc finish filler.
2 x coats of fastset on all seams.
1x coat of finish filler on all seams.
1 x coat of finish fill over internal tapes.
    Sand

    Regards

Hi, and welcome to the forum.
I wouls say that it depends on the level of texture on the surface of the board. It could be something like Fermacell which is more grainy than plasterboard. See if you can get some details of the product he is using. It might have its own special jointing system.

Hi Tony, thanks for the welcome.

He's just this minute sent me this link

    http://huntonit.com/wall/smooth-wallpanel/

I've just had a quick look but don't have time to investigate further but he said in his message that it surely doesn't need tape. I'll have a better look tomorrow, the tea time pint is calling.

    Cheers

An 11mm board on 600 centres with no centre noggin seems a bit flimsy to me.
