    Hi Mark
Good to hear how things are going in different areas of the country. Im in the Edinburgh area and site prices are currently bargain basement, if you can find any work I mean. I've had to use my own heaters on the last 3 small jobs Ive been on, winters already here.
Its great to finally hear some good news and balance things up after the tales of misfortune and hard luck stories Ive come across this week. Congratulations on acquiring a big job.

what sort of prices are you being given, it is hard at the moment, a lot of firms have gone bust, ive had to jump ship as quite a big firm i was working for could not price up anything as they had too many overheads. Seems to be the way in a recession, little firms start popping up and end up doing better than the big firms!

On private work I still charge over 5 a m2 with primer/sealer. I haven't been on a site since February and from what I hear the number of people earning over 3 a metre happens more often than the Scottish football team appearing in a major tournament.

In talks just now about returning to site work before Xmas and will just have to get on with it if nothing else appears. I've had no work to do this week due to holdups from other trades who think they are more important than we are I was never a big firm and there were only 2 employees and 3 subbies at most during the boom times. My overheads are practically zero now and I work on my own so maybe being small and keeping a low profile will make it easier to survive?

Hi Mark. Welcome to the forum.
I, like amestaper don't do much site work, mainly because the contractors are taking the pee with rates at the moment. I aim to get between 3.50 and 4.00 for taping and sealer, and a minimum of 1.50 for beads if I can. I do plasterboarding as well so am not reliant on just taping.
