    Default Internal before coving!

    Real-Debrid

Why do some contractors make you tape the internals before the coving goes up, i know its for fire rating but is it really necessary?

It's generally to prevent sound transference in timber framed buildings or blocks of flats. You would get the same result if acoustic or fire caulk was used. Lately, it may also be to do with air testing.

Tony's spot on - air testing mainly, came across this recently and asked the same question, nice to see i wasn't the only one wondering why we tape it and cover it up !
