Default Hello from the North East

i would like to introduce myself to you all .
i have been a taper for 27 years !!! six years ago i started my own drylining company based in the north east of the uk
the first year was ok . made a profit . the next 3 years went mad !! from having 3 subbies working for us it went to 80 plus
from metal studders , plasterers, renders , ceiling fixers & tapers .
the last year has just been a waste of time having gone from 80 plus men down to 2 is just a joke !!!
the prices some big firms are charging is just mental , how they keep going is beyond me .
we recently won a contract to do the interior of a nursing home in poole ( mf ceilings , metal stud , dot n dab & taping )
2 weeks before we were due to start some joker under cuts us by 40k YES 40K!!!!!!!!
it will take atleast another 10 years before we have the prices back to were they should be

    Hi Rockie

Im having much the same trouble as you. One of my own tenders was beaten by a hefty five figure margin last week and I know my competitor went cheap in the hope of claiming extras left right and centre. The funny thing about it was that my price was very, very keen and the other contractor who won the job will not be able to do it for that price unless he steals his materials.

Smallers probably better under the circumstances right now, wouldnt you agree?

Anyhoo, welcome to the taping forum.
Your messages are really important to us
