    Default Oxford Safety Systems

Whats your view on the oxford safety system for stairwells?
    Personally, I hate them!
They are great, admittedly, for doing the job intended - letting us tape the stairwell safely. But does anyone else hate trying to tape under this contraption when its up? I lost count of the number of bruises I've had banging my head while working under it and its a non starter trying to box the tapes under it too.
Persimmon sites I been on were great cos you only needed a wee ladder to reach the stairwell - no plank/baton required but we all know we cant do that now as H&S rule the world

hate them normally hve one in the house to satisfy the agent and the do something that health and safety would not approve of, to use them correctly you would have to build and dismantle them 2 or 3 times a nightmare.

What is this? Is it a scaffold tower specifically for stairwells? How did it get its name?

yup it is a scaffold for a staircase mate,it adjusts to suit staircase upwards and across, with a platform that pulls out to walk on then you push it back to get down the staircase (limbo style)and get back up the stairs (if you can without wacking yur nut)i think there ok and have there uses but a ladder and baton is easier, just dont get caught using them....
oh and freg knows how it got its name probebly some clever people from oxford that havent got the brains to be tapers

Yeah thats it. a platform wi legs. and the platform is retractable mesh.
The guys come onsite and train you to install it then give you a card to say you are able to do it! your not allowed to install the thing without a card. Its bollocks but all the big housing companies are into it big style.
check it out www.oxfordsafety.co.uk if you can be bothered.Ps i think the oxford thing is just cos they're based there
    cheers

Used them before, when the labourers carry them out they normally take half the bead work with them.
