    Default dot n dab staining through plasterboard

    i have got an aquaintance who cleaned the carpets in a building in february and now the owner of the premises is saying that the moisture from the carpets has caused the dotndab to stain through the wall and wants him to pay for a redec , i would be inclined to think the problem is coming from the outside in what do you guys think

    I have seen condensation cause the dabs to show through. Not the boarders problem though.

    Your acquantance could always inform his client that poor ventilation could be to blame. He was asked to clean a carpet at the clients request, and I presume the job was OK if it was done in February so any vapour problems should have been dealt with by a dehumidifier between then and now.

    To cut a long story short I dont think he should pay for a redecoration.

    Or the carpet cleaners. As Alex says, ventilation or a dehumidifier was needed to help drying.
