Default How much you getting per m2

How are prices around the country? I know some people will be getting 3-4 quid per m2 but in general working as a sub for a main builder what are your rates.

2 years ago i was getting 2.10 supplying im now getting 1.90 supplying from the same company but have had no work for 2 weeks so have done a house to fill in and they are paying 1.65 which is getting down towards the "like f**k am i working for that" level.

I have even heard of one company paying 1 pound labour only! Dont know how that is justifiable to anyone working for them.

Has anyone actually got the rate they wanted then the exact measure to boot. They say its ? m2 then shaft you through the measure, taking out windows doors etc
    Its not easy

Ive been humped a few times when someones elses estimate came up short of my own measure. Why dont you give the customer a fixed price so you can disguise your rate in amongst beads, painting etc so it doesnt give people the chance to play you off against someone else on price only?

I've just priced a job this week and gave the developer a total price per unit. He then asked for it to be broken down into boarding, taping and coving. So if i'm lucky, I might get the coving
The rates vary so much from job to job. One job I can get 3.50, the next 2.75. The thing is, they get the same finished product for that money. If it's a fair run of work, then you can be a bit keener with your rate. If the work is measured, then I agree the measuring method before I start. You should either get paid a straight through measure, or openings out, but bead paid for.

I never let on what my rate is to a contractor, I just measure up and give them the price. If I get it, great. They always have an idea how much it should cost so if you are round about their figure then should be ok. Generally charging between 3.50 - 4 m2 I dont normally get a knockback

Really from about 3 a m2, gives you a fighting chance, sometimes you get more others you need to bite the bullet and take less, once contractors get to know you they know what your looking for.

Is that for a major house builder, or commercial jobs?

Small developments, not the big boys. They can keep their rates.

    Unhappy prices.

im working on flats at the moment, and im being told im getting 1.50 a meter & im working a 8-9 hrs a day and im only getting up to around 120 a day mark !! do you think this is good ?
i think a lot of work for not alot of money !!
and an other thing, why do they take out the windows in the price, so we do them for free then!!!

Why dont you take your own measure and find out what you're being paid? I've been short changed so many times and give fixed prices now instead of taking someone elses word for it.

If they took out the measure for the window and didn't pay for the bead work, then they'd have no corner bead, if I was doing it.
