Hello raindog, one way would be to personally know someone in the trade who needs some extra hands on deck but chances are that you have came into this trade at the wrong time and not many people have surplus work to give away. Bear in mind that rates are at an eye watering all time low and competition between guys with more experience than you is fierce.

You just have to keep looking and take the opportunity when it comes.

There are lots of job vacancies online and regular members do post leads and phone numbers in the private area of this website.
Your messages are really important to us
...but not important enough to employ a sufficient number of support staff to answer them.

But who would honestly change jobs for anything else? I know i wouldn`t. Theres to much freedom with our trade, lets be honest who takes phone calls after 1.00 on a Friday? and thats coz were all on our way home or already there..and why stop with a Friday

I know groundworkers who are on hours of 7.30 - 5.30 out in the pissing rain all day. that!
This job can be shit boring and heavy going at times but there are plenty of worse jobs out there.
You earn a salary most middle management positions would pay and there is very little brain work required, no stress (if you're on a good job), you can take as many holidays long weekends as you wish, you can shout swear and you don't need to iron your clothes before you leave the house in the morning.
When you think about it, its a dream job!
