    Default Next weeks project

This renovation should keep us busy for around 6 weeks.

Following Tony's good example he's been setting with all the excellent photos, I wanted to document this job from the start.

Floorspace is 50m x 10m. Upstairs ceiling ranges from 3.8m to 7.8m high with loads of nippy iron trusses in the way, and downstairs is around 3.5m high or thereabouts? Theres 550 odd metres of beadwork too.

We start taping this next Monday if all goes to plan...

Thats our male model Jimmy lol. We used him for photographic purposes because I wanted a second opinion on the price from my partner who couldn't make it on site. Just to bring the ceiling height into a perspective in the photo's cos he must be 6 foot 2.

Cracking job it is mate, but it wont be a walk in the park.

I love jobs like that. Those tie bars are going to be a PITA, having to dismantle towers each move.

I keep taking pics of my jobs, as one day i'll get round to having a website done.

Absolutely. The scaffold slightly staggers each one so it can be slid along to do 2 at a time and the top stage will then be dismantled so the whole lot can be swung round 180 degrees. There are 34 ceiling sections upstairs altogether and we hope to get 4 done each day by using easi fill 45.

I worked out something like 126 alterations/moves of the scaffold will be needed as we need to come back and work on the walls later. and thats just upstairs.

Default For the project formerly known as next weeks project...

Just lost this project for a new contractor because they refused my request of 30% upfront. What the f*ck was I meant to do when an accountant flags up a bad credit rating that specifically states 'Tread with care, and ask for further guarantees' from them.

Hey ho..... this also gives me an idea for another discussion.

Plan B it is next week then.

You caught me out there, hes actually pretty shy and was about to kick my head in for flashing a camera in his face for 20 minutes. Lucky for me I blinded him.

They obviously have no cash flow. You are probably better of without it then

Sounds as though you may have dodged a bullet with this one, by the sounds of it they have no cash in the kitty.

That was my thoughts this afternoon, doing the whole job and waiting on a 30 day payment could have caused a few headaches. The funny thing was I only requested, and didnt demand some guarantee up front when they said they'd get someone else to do the job. Got something else lined up for next week already but will wait until I set foot on the battlefield before I post some pics lol.

Wait until you get some gear on the Walls before taking any pics.

Yeah I know and thats why I mentioned 'if all goes to plan on Monday' in post 1. Its really no big deal mate, it wasnt the kiss of death but a close shave. Absolutely no grudges towards the other company involved, and just too much of a risk for me.

I think you got out in the nick of time Alex! 20k is a lot of dosh to be sweating on in the run up to Christmas when people try to hang on to every last penny for themselves. A blessing in disguise mate so good luck with 'next weeks project' . PS did you warn the new taping crew of the bad credit risk thing? I wouldnt like to see fellow tapers getting stung...
