    Default Tacking price.

I have just spent the morning on the phone booking up fixers for the new year & sorting out rates etc.

1 guy who does grade A work has been forced over the last couple of weeks to work for BDL house bashing. Have a guess what they were paying M2 for tacking.

I don't understand why people agree to tacking for less than 2+ p/m2.
The rates just get pushed down further and further and it's impossible to do a tidy job so the tape and jointers get f*cked over as well.

I pay double what some of my local competitors pay, I pay a massive 1.40 m2 and the last 4 jobs I was to exspensive and lost out, but when your doing house bashing it all tallys up in the end....

Bloody hell we charge around the 3 mark & sub out around the 2.50 mark. But these are on high end, one off timber frames with lots of astute angles

No, Im actually working for a pound a metre less than that at the moment. You wouldn't believe some of the information we get here and BDL already have a mention somewhere in the members only section so I knew it wouldnt be creme de la creme prices.

Shocking Prices ! Im not sure what else to add here really as i dont see a way out of this for some time, all we can hope is that the main contractor sees sense when looking through tenderes and realises that as you all say contracts just can't reach acceptable standard when rates fall this low

its even better when they try to cut your doorways and window's out , they dont seem to get its earier to put up a full sheet rather than setting your windown heads and reveals , then your cuts around the window !
