Quick knife question
Hi all, i wanted to know if it is neccessary for me to buy a 8" 10" and 12" taping knife or will just one or two of the three be okay? I have all the sizes down from 6" but i done some taping the other day and my 6" didnt do the job so i resorted to my 14" trowel but found it excessive. Also wherr could i find a reasonably priced pole sander of good quality? Many thanks.
Tiago.

Get the 8, 10 and 12 as you will always find a use for them and every other painters merchant stocks sanding poles for about 20 quid.

Thank you! Would there be any point in getting a 11" trowel instead of a 10" and 12" knife?Apologies of these questions seem really daft.

I may be wrong but I've always reckoned its better to have a tool and not need it, than need one and not have it. Maybe that's why my toolbag cut my back to ribbons many times? Buy the 11" trowel, you know you want to.

Tee, in my opinion you'll need at least 3 knives minimum, 6 8 and 10 and at times you will need more, both bigger and smaller, plus trowels
I think most guys use a 6 for 1st coat and go up from there.
If your going for a sanding pole go for a Flex Edge http://www.belmoretools.co.uk/acatal...ding_Tool.html I have 2 of them and the 360 sander
These are far better than the ordinary sanding pole

Thank you guys. I think i will skip the 11 inch trowel and buy a 8, 10 and 12 inch blades. As for that sander brian what it the main difference to your conventional clip pole sander? Also i have decided to invest in a corner roller brush as i do really think it will rapidly increase my internal hand taping time rather then dabbing around with a 4" knife.
Thanks again guys.

The sander doesn't flip over like the ordinary sander, and with the extendable handle you can sand up to 3 odd metres from the floor. imo, nicer to use
if you can afford to do it buy the 3" BTE flusher and handle, that along with the roller will cut your internal time in half or more over using the knife
