    Exclamation Advertising - Your comments

    Real-Debrid

I've only been off for 2 days and I'm back already to see how my baby is doing, I can't keep away can I?

Now is the time for discusssions and opinions or you can forever hold your peace. If you disagree, now is the time to say so, and not in 3 months time. OK, you with me so far...... ? Now let's discuss an advertising proposal.

We have been approached by 3 different marketing people enquiring about placing banner and side column adverts on the site. This will create some advertising revenue to help with running and hosting costs.

This forum was NOT created to generate money, however a little may help with the bills and there will be opportunities for members to advertise if they like. The forum structure and background team running the site will remain exactly the same.

If you want adverts, they will be trade related and of some interest to you. Alternatively, if you do not want adverts ..... :soapbox:

Please fill this thread with your comments and I will count up the yay's and nay's when I get back.

On condition it's content I might be interested in buying or selling, someone I may be interested in doing business with, and taping trade orientated then definitely. I will even commit to advertising myself.

If the end result resembles Times Square, or I have to pay to access the forum, or if other non related advertisers get a foothold on the forum then you can "Get tae France" as they say in this part of the world.

My 2 pence worth. Also added a straightforward yes/no poll which may help.
Your messages are really important to us
...but not important enough to employ a sufficient number of support staff to answer them.

Yes but under the terms the 2 other posts have made, like linking to sites similar to this., you did well keeping it adfree so far but you might be pissing into the wind and missing an oportunity by saying no. who knows? it could end up being a good thing
Jesus loves you........ everyone else thinks you're an arsehole.

    Default Advertising - Your comments

I notice you cant sit on the fence with a 'maybe or perhaps' tickbox. I like it advert free as it is.
Its a good idea discussing this as it lets me know my memberships important, and that you actually give a shit by consulting us, so my opinion clearly matters. Some other sites have them plastered (no pun intended) all over from day 1 without asking for user feedback.
If you are going ahead then I would prefer to see carefully chosen adverts instead of random google ads slots you see on so many other sites. If you think it will benefit the sites users, then you just make it with a yes vote from me with a 51/49 majority.

Don't think it necessary at this point. I like the friendly add free atmosphere of this forum. I've been on other forums such as ‘UK Business forum’ which have advertising and it's slightly irritating. However, the forums that i'm on that are advert free I have to pay for membership - but the qualify of advice far outweighs the cost.

That being said I'm not the one fronting the running cost so I will completely understand if you do.

I've voted no for now - maybe it's something for the future as I'm sure all the advert proposals will wait - and as membership grows you'll probably get more money for it.

I think if it’s a close call then it might be better to wait a while and let us enjoy the advert free space – not many left now adays

Related drywall trades such as hangers, plasterers, textured finishers, painters etc. Yes.
Non related drywall trades such as plumbers, electricians, groundworkers, architects. No (and why would they want to anyway?)

I intend to close this thread at midnight (GMT) on Friday June 26th.
