Default Festool sander, worth the money?

Hi guys, as the thread asks, is the festool sander worth the extra cash over the qtech? I'm goin to get either or and like the look of the festool(extendable, light). Any you guys used one before? Cheers

I've has a wee shot for 10 minutes of the Festool Planex. It was top quality, came to pieces and packed away in a cracking carry case. The only bad point I noticed in that short time other than the price was it was heavier at the head due to the motor being there I believe. I stuck with my Flex and haven't used the Q-Tech although it has had some decent reviews on here.

PS. Over 1500 for a new sander and vaccuum, thats still a bit pricey in my opinion but just saw a 2nd hand sander only for around 500 if thats any use to you?

Cheers for the input mate, I hired the flex for about a year there. Generally happy with it but with the reviews on here mostly saying the qtech is better and 100 cheaper it seems a better buy than the flex. The festool just looks like a great bit of kit! I can see myself giving Marcus a large cheque soon

Just seen the eBay link, I'd rather spend the extra 240 to buy new from Belmore. Team it up with a mirka vac n it's under 1k

Spoke to the guys at Belmore today, looks like its the qtech I'm going for! Finding it hard to justify more than double the price for the festool!

It looked like the disk needed to be a bit more proud on the sander head. I'll give it a bash tomorrow and see how it goes.

I have the Qtech also, Ayrshire Taper. It is good, on a par or better than the flex 500. Need to send mines back to Belmore though, last time I went to use it it wouldn't power up

Nightmare, sure Marcus will sort you out tho. Used mine today, it feels great in your hand, like the pistol grip and d handle. It judders quite a bit tho, got a flex backing pad kicking about ill try with it next time. Seems a good bit of kit tho especially for the price😄

Mines juddered about a wee bit at the start, but seemed to calm itself down. Yes the grip is easier than the flex, especially the d handle

So reading this thread seems the Q-Tech had glowing reviews but then a couple of you started to have some problems?

I'm thinking of getting one so would appreciate some more reviews.

Also do they come with any guarantee or anything?

Also on Belmore website the specs say weight- 34.5kgs?!!

    Looks that way😳

Mine seems great so far light, great feel and good power. Used it today (3rd house with it) and no judder at all. First instinct says its a great buy. Hopefully it stays that way.

Don't know the exact weight but its a good bit lighter than both flex sanders

Hi All - good spot - we forgot to change this months ago - sander doesn't weigh 34kg at all ! haha that would be crazy - its a manufacturers typo error it actually weighs 4.7 kg - it's 0.1 kg lighter than the new wse 500 so not sure you will really notice much difference but what it does have is the d bar handle in the kit and it does seem better balanced than any other sander on the market.

Belmore is the exclusive reseller of these machines and we also look after the complete after-care and warranty procedure (if needed) warranty is 12 months parts and labour (not including consumables eg backing pads, sanding discs and carbon brushes)

can't stress enough how good these sanders are compared with what's available in the market today.

This is not a slaes pitch (hahaha) but price will be going up from 349 soon o 399 unfortunately we have to purchase in bulk and being hammered by volatile USD at the moment so need to safeguard the price for as long as possible. The price increase will be when our next stock arrives in september and hoping to hold price for next 12-18 months maybe longer if sales increase and i can negotiate a better deal with manufacturer.

So now is a great time to buy!!

Finance is available on the sander and sander and vac combo details below

Sander & Vac Combo - Spread over 3 years
    24.84 Monthly Repayment
    Deposit: 71.88
    Total Repayable: 966.12
    Total Interest: 247.32

Sander on its own over 3 years
    14.47 Monthly Repayment
    Deposit: 41.88
    Total Repayable: 562.80
    Total Interest: 144.00

These rates are based on 3 year deal - reducing the term will lower your overall interest payments but of course monthly payments will be higher. (sander and vac over 12 months = 60.69 per month) (sander on its own = 35.29) all based on a 10% initial deposit you can of course pay up to 50% deposit at the start to reduce your over all monthly repayments.

Yeah I thought 34kg had to be a mistake,a bag of joint cement is 25 kg and it wouldn't be pretty holding one of those for the length it takes to sand a house

The price increase is understandable,I'm hoping to make a purchase this month so hopefully I'll squeeze in just in time

I think I've decided on the sander,Q-Tech it is. As for hoovers, the EDX DW50 catches my eye. Anyone have any experience with these?
