Dot n Dab
Just doing a bit of Dot n dab on a new build before i tape it. We have had a few issue's with clearance on walls with doors in, the walls are made of 4" block so what size door lining should have been used, we have both 9mm and 12.5 board but are struggling to get back level with the linings.

10-12mm dab thickness plus board plus wall thickness. Got to be 140mm. As for 9.5mm board, who uses that anymore?
Sounds like the chippies haven't thought about the dryliners mate.

Thanks for the replys guys as all ways I have not explained my self very clearly, I know that the block is 100mm and so if im using 12.5mm board one each side thats another 25mm then lets say another 12.5mm a side for the dabs which makes 150mm or 6" in English.
The problem is where do you get 150mm door linings. The Guy who's house im doing and have done many for him before with the same problem swears that you cant get 150mm linings so we have to mess about with 9.5mm board and a lot of cursing and swearing.
As it happens we finished the boarding today and start Jointing probably Friday so I dont have to worrie about it untill the next one is ready in about 8 months or so.

If he had a decent chippy, they'd rip down timber to the appropriate size

Actually he is the chippy in fact he is everything, he builds houses all on his own except for plumbing, electrics and drylining which I have done for years. He buys ready made door linings the sort that come from jewsons or travis etc usually shrink wrapped, The problem is they only do certain sizes and 150mm aint one of them. I guess my question is Why not.
Tony ripping down timber to suit the wall would be nice and im sure he could do that but it certainly wouldn't be cost effective even on one house let alone a site. I'm not on site ATM so could some one just measure a door lining for me and let me know what size they use.

I know one, he lives in Lancashire
You must be able to buy the linings off the shelf? when I was boarding they fitted the linings without ripping them down, ( to blockwork) and that was years ago, and for hundreds of houses.
I've had to rip Howdens linings down ti fit stud work, as I think they're 160

Ok I have the answer got it from my builders merchant today while picking up some taping materials, any way its like this you can buy pre made linings to be used with CLS timber these are 138 x 38mm BUT if you use 4 x 2" timber or 4" block you can buy lengths of 150x38mm door lining which the chippy makes the lining out of. So my guy is using linings designed for CLS stud for 4" block walls and trying to get round it by using 9.5 board.
