last year went to british gypsum only a one day
there was no mention about nvqs but they did say they would come out to site to train our work force
for free never took it up.
it sonuds like it would have been a waste of time.
Hey there, I did my level 2 practical last monday pretty painless really just sheeted and skimmed a ceiling. I got in touch with my local building college who sent an OSAT assessor out to see me 1st session was about 3 hours bit of a question and answer session nothing to serious, I don't know if you are aware but OSAT is all about building a portfolio of evidence as well as a practical assessment which is then sent for external verification.
As for a level 1 not sure but I guess there must be as there are levels 2 and 3, the only reason I got mine is for emigration reasons.
A word of warning be careful there are a lot of unscrupulous training vendors out there so do your home work , my assessor was fully certified and had 30 years on site as a plasterer so he knew what he was talking about, hope this helps.

I had this problem last summer when I needed to get a CSCS card. I was working on an 'experienced workers' card which only lasted 1 year before having to upgrade to the nvq2 equivalent. All this 600 bollox really put me off, but I managed to rake thru my attic and found my apprenticeship papers from my painting & decorating youth...... Bingo!!!!!
Simply photocopied them sent them away and now I got a 5 year card. Never been challenged by an agent yet as to why I am taping yet only have decorator on my card. Suppose its all in the same line o work

if you think not, take a bribe with you.

Yep the man is spot one - they get paid to say yes and I have heard of many turning up having a cup of tea and saying yes you in in for years I will sign it off etc - and one or two that have paid 50 for the nvq
