    Default Evening all

    Hi I'm Noel.
    Since there has been no response to my "Need a tradesman" add, I'm looking for a bit of advice as nearly all plasters here only skim and taping and jointing "Is a waste of time".

    Back ground first on myself and house;
    I'm a second fix joiner mostly and do a lot of bespoke stuff both commercial (shopfitting) and one off houses. I have done some taping and jointing before but very little. I was going to tackle the bed and bathrooms myself and possible skim the main rooms. But I don't have time. The more i research I realize the high quality finish you can achieve T&J. In shop fit-outs its barely tape the joints or skim only. The house is 2200sq ft, three bed, with one large vaulted room, open plan sitting room/kitchen/dining room approx 12m long 6.5m wide 4.5m high.

    There are three or four "specialized" companies in Dublin that do T&J and I'll be organizing to meet them onsite next week.

    So what should i ask for or watch out for in conversion. I think a grade 3-4 (if I'm saying that right) should do. What do yous advise?

    Thanks in advance

    Ask for 3 coats on walls, externall angles & screws , 2 coats on internall angles, sanded and snagged after mist coat, plus
    floors scraped and swept after completion.

    Thanks lads actually didn't get a chance to ring anyone today. But had a funny discussion (argument) with a so called plasterer that's working on a job I'm on at the minute, He says that T&J is slower and not cost effective "sure you have to go to each joint 4 times and then sand", my reply was sure don't you trowel a whole wall 3-4 times. Typical plasterers response over here. I'm going to have fun finding a T&J who is capable over here.

    What drywall guy said. Welcome to the forum Noel.
