Nice to catch up with some old friends and meet some new ones today. Any idea why they chose a venue so far out of town though?
Your messages are really important to us
...but not important enough to employ a sufficient number of support staff to answer them.

Was as always great to meet old and new faces! Regarding the venue from what i can make out it's more to do with the awards lunch that they put on during the day - i think most of us who display at the show would rather not have a break in the day to attend the awards but it seems to be part of the whole "Federation" way of conducting the event - i will pass on any feedback you guys have that attended this year as everyone needs constructive criticism!

I'm hoping the show will eventually "outgrow" the current venue and maybe move to an exhibition centre closer to Edinburgh (somewhere near the p**** triangle would be good! )

Hope to see you all again next year! Maybe a T & J forum Meet Up !

In Scotland (only it seems) chippies do the stud and boarding and Decorators do the taping (Ames Taping) and painting
Down here in south most jointer's (Ames Tapers) wouldn't touch painting contracts, it has real benefits doing it the "Scottish" way, i see much happier tapers in Scotland as they are in charge of house finish from bare board to paint = more time allowed in a house and also in charge of their own snagging = no contra charge form the painter! win win situation.

Also from what i have seen very little "wet" plastering or skimming in scotland - many houses timber frame so plaster finish is not desirable and drying times much longer the higher up you go!

correct belmore that's how we do it up here painters do the taping and painting not.lucky enough to have boys in taping then we just blitz the painting in 9 years we've only ever had one job where another guys done the taping then we walk in and blitz only the painting but being able to tape and paint and tile is an advantage =)
