    Default good evening lads

    Real-Debrid

Hope you are all well and keeping busy. My name is Paul. Been jointing and plastering for 27 years now,had my own business in Dorset for 15 years but now moved up to sunny Lancashire because of family so starting up again from scratch. Would be great to hear from lads in north west in regards to finding work, kind of rates to expect, any contacts would be great. Thanks in advance

    Evening Paul.

I've been off the tools for 3 years and my phone has started ringing like crazy. Looks like things are booming again? Are you looking at sites or private work?

Hi amestaper. I would do either really,it's just getting started again as I don't have any contacts up here. It's all a bit new to me as I've never had to look for work in all my years, feel like a kid again ,if only my body did lol. So why have you been off the tools so long?

I wasnt actively looking to leave, someone I know offered me an opportunity to try my hand at something new so I grabbed it.

I had been unhappy with the rates and was only making enough to stay afloat. I know for a fact architects and housebuilders were still making massive profits so just breaking even and the race to the bottom in a price war to keep busy just didnt inspire me any more.

I've never once been idle since 2011, so it looks to have been a good decision despite the desk job causing frustration and testing my patience at times. I'm in my 40's now so would be difficult to start again as my cards have also expired.

I wont say I'll never return but its unlikely so I kept the tools and website online just in case.

I know just where your coming from mate. I decided to push my business more in 2006 just at the wrong time. Took on jobs to keep the lads going but kept either getting knocked or squeezed down on the prices. I've been off the tools and doing more of the desk side of things until recently but I must say I prefer the tools so with the move up north that is what I'm going to do especially if things are getting a bit better and just worry about myself.

Never say never I gave it up on a full time basis about six years ago, sure I have done bits n pieces but nothing permanent, Now I have sort of gone back to it, at 56 im finding it very hard and also having a lot of attitude problems with the people I work for, that's my attitude not theirs, Im a very stubborn guy who thinks every one is out to stitch him up. Still working on my attitude but until I get it fixed they can F**k Off.
