    Default Drylining NVQ2

    drywallschool.com

Hey Guys id like to revive this Old Thread . Its that time . I'm gonna have to get the new CSCS Card ( NVQ 2 drylining finisher ) edition lol . Luckily i fell before the deadline for the last card and my last card - The Construction Related Operative Card (CRO- white) lasted me the full five years but is now up for renewal in june . Im in East Kilbride and I know they do Taping courses in East Kilbride College and also in Queenslie Estate but iv been doing this for around 15 years now without any tangible Accreditation .What i'm wondering is if anyone has had to apply for this card recently in or near Glasgow area and how they went about it and how much it cost etc etc . Iv read things about CITB and know that iv paid my Levy with my contractor . Does he have to apply to CITB to get funding for me ? Any help would be appreciated Guys

    Thanks Again : )

I've had to move this topic to its own thread. Things have no doubt moved on, and likely become more expensive since the last comment

I hadn't done any site work since 2009 so I let my white card lapse in 2013 after I had already been doing the job for 20 years.

How did the NVQ work out Shiva? Wondering whether or not you got some kind of rebate as 1200 seems pretty steep.

Ok guys i found this online .

    http://www.nvqassessments.co.uk/dry-lining-finishing-2/

    This says ...
"The cost of the full assessment is 750 + VAT. Construction companies registered for CITB Levy can claim grants from the CITB for each completed NVQ assessment.

You can spread the cost into two payments – one at the beginning of your assessment and another one at the completion. Please contact us for more information."
    so then i found this
    https://www.citb.co.uk/grant/new-gra...grammes-grant/

This basically says that there are Grants available for the NVQ 2 in Dry-lining but the Grant must be for someone who is PAYE .It is not available for Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) sub-contractors.

    So thats that F%"^*d . Lol .

http://www.nvqassessments.co.uk/dry-lining-finishing/ This mob offers the course for 750-

Again though i believe this means only PAYE .

So 1800 smackeroonies if you require fixing and finishing? How quick do you need a NVQ plus you know the assessment cost will not reduce. Nothing ever does LOL

I know someone who did a plastering NVQ a few years ago and he was assessed in a single day. Maybe I already mentioned it here? He was asked to take a change of clothes to make it appear he had been assessed over 2 separate days when they took the photos for their files. I can't really say what I want to say about it on a public forum but I didn't like it. I still keep in touch with him so may ask if he wants to elaborate further.

What are you going to do?

Hey Guys . Quick Update ..

    https://www.thefis.org/cscs/fasttrackoffer/

This FIS are doing "DRYLINING FINISHERS " Upgrades for 300- + Vat .

"The offer is a fast track route for experienced drylining finishers to upgrade from their current CRO card to a Blue Skilled Worker CSCS card in two days for 300 + VAT."

"The fast track route is designed specifically for tradespeople who already have adequate experience in the relevant trade, in this case a minimum of two years site experience as a drylining finisher.

This route consists of five elements:

    1. Witness testimony (for each unit), signed by the employer
    2. Employer endorsement
    3. Practical assessment – three hours skills test to demonstrate your skills
    4. Professional discussion (one to one discussion with an assessor)
    5. Knowledge questioning (one to one questioning by the assessor)"
