Insurance
Of the sickness/accident kind, at work today when a guy in a suit carrying a folder walks in the house I'm taping, straight away I know he is going to try and sell me something
He starts with his spiel about the insurance he can offer me yadda yadda yadda, I tell him I am already covered but he still carries on..
I humour him and ask for the basic 'what is covered and what isn't' everything is covered except for fracture/break to the fingers, ribs and any teeth that get knocked out! at this point I stop him and politely inform him what would be the point in me paying for insurance that wont pay if I break a finger? a month or so off work unable to work and an insurance policy that isn't worth the paper it is written on followed by feck off I'm not interested!
Do these insurance companies really think they can sell a product which doesn't cover a tradesman properly?"YOUR PRIUS JUST SAVED ALL THE PETROL MY MUSTANG USED!"

It shows how desperate for business they are if they are prepared to leave the comfort and warmth of their office to get mud on their shoes touting for work on a building site. Some people are actually too soft to say "NO!" to these people.
Its been a while since Ive had someone visit on site univited other than tinkers selling dodgy tools and oriental people selling porno DVDs from a folder. (I really hate to be stereotypical, but all my fake DVD offers are from people from that part of the world)Your messages are really important to us
...but not important enough to employ a sufficient number of support staff to answer them.
