    Default Hello from Hull

    Hello everyone,
Just had a good look round the forum, excellent site by the way....
surprised that i haven't come across it before. Anyway I am Danny, a dryliner fixer from Hull.
I work as a subie, mainly on large commercial jobs all over the UK, i have taped and jointed on quite a few smaller jobs by hand, and was hoping for some advice as to whether it would be more beneficial to invest in a set of machine taping tools to use on some domestic sites (houses) i may have the option of working on, or to just to carry on hand taping, as the houses are quite pokey. cheers Gents any input would be much appreciated.

    Hi Danny.

Welcome to our site and thanks for the kind comment. We do need more members so we're also glad you found us. Probably better to start another thread in the tools and materials forum about whether or not you should buy a taping kit. You should get good feedback from the members who use all different brands of tools and you may even get some good quotes from the guys who sell them as they use the site too.

Your introduction post is appreciated, it's good to see another tradesman being kept busy.
Your messages are really important to us
...but not important enough to employ a sufficient number of support staff to answer them.

Welcome Danny. Did you work for Baris on the huge accommodation block at Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth in 2006?

Thanks amestaper, i will do that.

No TonyM, I have only worked for baris once, on The great eastern hotel in London, and then only for a few weeks, i think Tony Bruce was the contracts Manager then.

It's just that there was a fixer called Danny from your neck of the woods on there.
Buy the tools. You know you want to.

They probably thought you were a wizard or something, being able to fix plasterboard with a cordless Makita with no battery, and invisible screws.

Hi Danny try renting if cash is a problem but tools do help on the domestic market, as it a fast turn around job and the prices can be good if you can knock them out. Maybe not a full set but just enough to make you faster and add on as needed. Again welcome. ALAN
