lady tapers
Just as a matter of interest are there any lady tapers around. I see the odd lady painter and once a brikie but thats all. I remember when I started there was a husband and wife team going round, I would go into the house they were taping and they would have deckchairs set up and she would be frying bacon on a gas stove.

Me and a mate worked on an accommodation block in Devonport dockyard about 4 yrs ago and there was a lady taper working there. Came from Newcastle I think.

Christ Almighty-a husband and wife team - its bad enough having to live with mine never mind work with her LOL. I just hope she never logs on to this or I will be in deep shit! I have never seen lady tapers, I have seen a few lady painters although they were apprentices and to the best of my knowledge they never finished their time.

Lady Taper,
I took my wife to help me to spray texture a garage and wash and dryer room.
I taught her how to mask, mix mud , how to load the hopper , and to spray ...she wasn't big on the spraying ...but she help me a lot in positioning the light and clean up afterwards. She showed me to be a hard worker.
I believe women do have a place in the work place. We have at lest 10 women in the drywall industry here in northeren california. How about where your at ? How many women in the trade ? How long have you been in the trade ?

there were quite a few working in the union in seattle, my top framer on a crew i was running there was female, though I didn't realize it for a few weeks! There seems to be alot more women in the trade in North America, particularly the states. Generally they don't get harassed like you might think on a construction site, as there crew mates are pretty protective.

I'm a lady taper and a newbie to the forum ..
How sad am I? Got a little excited last night when I found you all!
Been doing this for 8 years based in France. Love to see the look of surprise from other trades when they turn up on a job .. and strangely I never think about the kitchen in the course of my working day!

I'm taking my 16 yr old daughter to work with me tomorrow. She's bored and wants to earn a few quid before she starts her A levels in September. The week after next, I have a large house to board with fireline - she'll love that.
