Solicitation of my client
Are times really so financially hard at the moment that would you consider doing this?
For those of you who know me, you will probably know who this person is. However I am not going to name the guy as he said he was desperate and needed the money. I don't understand why he could be blinded by greed considering how long we had known each other and I had considered this man a close friend. Unfortunately, he will never work with me again.
If you had worked for someone for around 8 months and they took care of all the paperwork, supplied materials, supplied the contracts, when they got paid, so did you and it was a 50-50 split and you could go to the pub every afternoon while he was still working on where the next job was coming from for both of you.
I have one question. Would you hand out your own business cards on his jobs and attempt to poach his client?
I reckon this is unethical business practice and my friendship and loyalty has been betrayed, bigtime.Your messages are really important to us

Thanks for the support. Just wanted a second opinion to make sure I wasnt being too hard on the guy but the first impressions are usually right. He overstepped the mark and did steal the client, he started work yesterday. Every man has a price they would sell their soul for, and I am really disappointed his was next to nothing.
You can be sure I will rub his nose in it when he finds out where I am working next.Your messages are really important to us

Don't get angry, get even. You sound motivated enough to show the guy he has made a mistake and it obviously hasn't cost you a huge fortune to find out he couldn't be trusted. You're rid of him, result!!!!!
Ensure all your clients and tool/material suppliers know about the split otherwise he could still do some damage to your business.

Sent out an email circular on Saturday to inform everyone I deal with. Surely a blessing in disguise as it has given me a good chance to do an early spring clearout and I have less overheads now. I also managed to get some of the small jobs finished and do some serious networking in which I met a whole new circle of possible clientelle.
I start another job on a new build site on Thursday morning.Last edited by amestaper; 20-01-2009 at 09:41 PM.
